BBC New Talent is offering enthusiastic dancers the chance to waltz, twirl and twist in a masterclass with Anton Du Beke from Strictly Come Dancing. And if they knock Anton s socks off, they ll get to star with a celebrity dance partner in a special BBC One programme. Dancing in the Street is a 90-minute dance extravaganza taking place in Trafalgar Square on 22 July as part of Big Dance a week long celebration of dance taking place in cities across the UK. There are dance workshops in six venues across the country. In each venue, the best dancers will be invited back for a master class with Anton Du Beke. One dancer from each location will then be chosen to star in Dancing in the Street. The six chosen dancers will be whisked off to London on 19 July for two days of rehearsals with their own Strictly Come Dancing dance partner from the series. The celebrity dance partners include, Erin Bogue, Andrew Cuerdon, Hanna Haarala, Nicole Cutler and Matthew Cutler. The final touch will be a stunning costume fitted by a top costume designer before performing their routine for millions of BBC One viewers and a live audience in Trafalgar Square. Anton is looking forward to discovering new talent from around the UK. He says: "Dancing for an audience of millions live on BBC One is a wonderful experience. I hope we're going to find some undiscovered talents so we can give a spectacular ballroom performance on stage in Trafalgar Square." How to take part Anyone 16 or over who loves dancing should go to www.bbc.co.uk/newtalent to reserve a place at one of the workshops. Alternatively, people can turn up at one of the locations for an open workshop slot which will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. People must arrive by 10.30am to have any chance of been seen - though we cannot guarantee that due to the number of people expected. It really doesn t matter how good auditionees are, how experienced they are or what dance they do. The BBC team is looking for natural talent - and can teach you the rest.
