Dance East - 2 x 2 An Evening of Duets - Duel/Chairs/Sawn-off Scarface/The Self

Work:: Dance East (S872546848)

Production:: 2 x 2 An Evening of Duets - Duel/Chairs/Sawn-off Scarface/The Self (T2120184532)

Award-winning Protein Dance will perform Duel, their first work from 1997, an upbeat and witty blend of dance theatre, music, language and high drama that is a bilingual exploration of competitive behaviour between an Italian man and a Swiss woman. The Royal Ballet's William Tuckett and Luke Heydon present a choreographic dialogue for two querulous friends and two chairs, hence the title Chairs. This playful piece is very funny and performed to a musical score of Bach and Beethoven. Welsh-based Eddie Ladd and Gerald Tyler's Sawn-off Scarface is a duet and (semi) ironic tribute to Scarface, Brian de Palma's notorious film starring Al Pacino. Performed to a short, tough synopsis of the plot, and on something close to a sticky, wet nightclub floor, the show is described as a 'meeting point for the small and the epic' and 'extraordinary fusion of film and live action performed breathtakingly'. The Self by Walker Dance and Park Music is an enchanting and dynamic duet combining Fin Walker's intricately detailed and exhilarating choreography with Ben Park's emotional composition which will be performed by live musicians on stage.
