Cinderella

Cinderella

Work:: Cinderella (S586)

The classic fairy tale. Prokofiev's music was written during the Blitz. Cinderella's life with her cruel stepmother and stepsisters is one of drudgery and hardship until the evening of an extravagant party at the palace. With the help of her Fairy Godmother, she's the centre of attention when she arrives at the ball in a magical coach, wearing a gorgeous gown.
Music Prokofiev

Production:: (T01733993416)

A sumptuous reworking of the well-loved tale, Cinderella is the second in a trilogy of three full length fairy tale ballets from Ashley Page since his arrival at Scottish Ballet. Cinderella boasts a distinct theatrical vision, with highly inventive choreography created especially on the Company. Featuring magical sets and dazzling costumes by world-renowned designer Antony McDonald, this delicious production comes via the day-glo lens of Andy Warhol, where 18th century French period costumes are sprinkled with references to Vivienne Westwood and John Galliano in a decadence that embodies one of Scottish Ballet’s most glamorous productions. Cinderella is set to the rich and colourful Prokofiev score, perfectly contrasting the wonder and wit of the romantic fairy tale, with elements that capture both the mischief and melancholy of the story. The score will be performed live by the Scottish Ballet Orchestra.
