Bode Lawal Sakoba Dance Theatre - Respite/Okan' Nijo (One)/Boreas

Work:: Bode Lawal Sakoba Dance Theatre (S718720438)

African dance company.

Production:: Respite/Okan' Nijo (One)/Boreas (T1676204451)

Respite is a dramatic reflection of society’s hopes and fears, as people struggle to survive in the 21st Century’s ever-changing world. The piece is full of contrasting, lyrical and seemingly chaotic gestures - challenging the ‘status quo’ and urging society to stop, step back and take a look at the bigger picture! Run time 35 mins. Okan' Nijo (meaning One), which toured to critical acclaim throughout 2007/08 (35 minutes in duration). The piece was the first opportunity Bode Lawal had to bring his BLDT alive and showcase its potential onstage. And to round off the billing, Bode Lawal will perform a brand-new solo work, Boreas - The Greek god of Northern Winds (7 minutes in duration). This solo has been choreographed by Peter Coenen, the former Rambert Dancer who is now Dance Academy Director at Calderdale College of Performing Arts - Halifax.
