Dumbarton Oaks - New Work. Duo Concertant - This lyrical but simply crafted ballet is one of Balanchine's most beautiful duets. The music, for violin and piano, almost surpasses the beauty and authority of the dance - a testimony to the long-standing partnership between composer and choreographer. Monotones II - Brilliantly displays the complimentary nature of music and movement. This mesmerising piece is fiercely demanding of those who dance the roles - a compelling showcase for the technical excellence of BRB's dancers. Five Tangos - The tango has always been associated with the fiery temperament of Latin America - redolent with conflict and passion, shaded with danger. Dutch choreographer Van Manen combines a sense of Latin flair with pure classicism to create heart-stopping dance.
