Birmingham Royal Ballet - Allegri diversi/Dante Sonata/Elite Syncopations

Birmingham Royal Ballet

Work:: Birmingham Royal Ballet (S0697032789)

Company Birmingham Royal Ballet

Production:: Allegri diversi/Dante Sonata/Elite Syncopations (T969423385)

A programme of three short ballets which will highlight the diversity and skill of the country's leading touring ballet companies. Allegri diversi - Bintley’s Allegri diversi scored to Rossini’s Variations for clarinet and small orchestra, skilfully intertwines the movements of the dancers to the mood of the music. Set in the garden of an Italian Renaissance villa, the colours suggest the season of spring. Dancing in pairs, the dancers display effortless elegance and swiftness of movement. Elite Syncopations - Set to the ragtime music of Scott Joplin, Elite Syncopations is Kenneth MacMillan’s wittiest ballet and has enjoyed success since it was first performed in 1974. MacMillan’s ballet, with brilliantly coloured costumes by Ian Spurling, captures all of the atmosphere of a honky-tonk dance hall at the height of the great jazz age.
