Programme 2 - Ballet for Life - T0316566881Ballet for Life is an intensely moving work which draws inspiration from the lives of [Freddie Mercury] and Bejart's former principal dancer [Jorge Donn], both of whom died tragically of AIDS. The piece is danced to a soundtrack of [Queen]'s greatest hits, including I Want to Break Free and The Show Must Go On, and is interspersed with pieces by [Mozart]. Ballet for Life was first performed in 1997 and has played to packed stadiums across Europe. Bejart's homage to two artists of formidable talent is a dramatic encounter between music and life, death and love.Producer Raymond Gubbay. Company Bejart Ballet (Lausanne). Music Queen. Programme 1 - Bolero, Adagietto, Seven Greek Dances + a New World Premiere - T0768878775A simple yet compelling interpretation of [Ravel]'s classic score Bolero (1961) was the first work Bejart choreographed for his newly established 'Ballet of the 20th Century'. Performed by one solo dancer with an entourage of male onlookers, the ballet echoes Ravel's music in building to a frenzied climax. In addition, the programme will feature Seven Greek Dances (1986) set to music by [Mikis Theodorakis] and a world premiere created by Bejart especially for London.Producer Raymond Gubbay.
