Divining is a mysterious, abstract work of ritualized dance set to a score of North African, Latin and Central African rhythms. The second piece, Pas de Duke is an Ailey masterpiece, a modern dance translation of a classical pas de deux showing off star dancer's technique and Ellington's musical range. The passion and kinetic athletic energy of Dove's Bad Blood encapsulates the powerful yet extremely tender war between the sexes begging the questions 'can we be a duo and an individual at the same time?'. Revelations captures the exuberant energy of black spirituals and the 'blood memories' of Ailey's childhood in Texas.
