Freeborn and Woodburn had childhoods rich in sixties folk, rock, and classical music. Jazz drummer Griffiths has a distinctively tactile playing style, and guitarist and percussionist Height adds his knowledge of folk styles and grooves from around the world to the sonic mix. Wake the River spans multiple generations in their ages and influences yet retains a fresh flavour with delicate, stand-out lead vocals from Freeborn, sensitive instrumentation, and dynamic songwriting from both Woodburn and Freeborn.
