Tommaso Starace plays the photographs of Eliott Erwitt and Etmo

Tommaso Starace plays the photographs of Eliott Erwitt and Etmo

Work:: Tommaso Starace plays the photographs of Eliott Erwitt and Etmo (S01356700388)

Eight black and white photographs by celebrated Magnum Agency photographer Elliott Erwitt provide the inspiration for talented Italian saxophonist Tommaso Starace and his all-star quintet. Projected on stage, the photographs add intrigue to Starace's beautifully melodic retro-jazz compositions, while the music allows the audience to explore the still images in incredible depth, finding narratives and new meanings. Ground-breaking French saxophonist and producer Etmo is making waves with live and sampled sound textures, using DJ'd electronics, global percussions, saxophones and flutes, adding video projections created for the music by talented VJs mixed on stage with live video feed to create moods and subtle atmospheres that set jazz and performance in the context of the DJ lounge, the electronica explosion and multi-sensory experience.
