A mix of a gig and theatre, The Song Project is a collection of songs by five playwrights exploring the hopes and anxieties of life, performed live by one Europe's most exciting artists, Wende and a company of musicians. From dark, thrashing, furious songs exploring loss of identity, rage, terror and alienation; to joyous and defiant anthems about conquering fear, love, sex, hope and motherhood; each song stands alone in its own world like a first-person confessional revelation. Together the collection journeys through fear, angst and loneliness, to acceptance, hope and joy as one exhilarating song cycle. With words by playwrights E.V. Crowe, Sabrina Mahfouz, Somalia NonyƩ Seaton, Stef Smith and Debris Stevenson, The Song Project was conceived by Royal Court associate designer Chloe Lamford and award-winning Dutch singer and composer Wende, in collaboration with composer Isobel Waller-Bridge and choreographer Imogen Knight.Producer Royal Court Theatre.
