The Nelsen Trio

Work:: The Nelsen Trio (S157690556)

Production:: (T1952082701)

The programme begins with Bach's lively, melodic Flute Sonata in G minor played by Lisa Nelsen (flute) and Paul Turner (piano). Beethoven's 12 variations in F major on 'Ein Madchen oder Weibchen' for cello and piano Op 66 brings Julian Metzger (cello) to the stage to join Paul in presenting Beethoven's reworking of the aria from Mozart's The Magic Flute. Piano, cello and flute then combine to close the first part of the recital with the yearning tones of Weber's Trio in G minor Op 63. The second part of the recital opens with the beautiful opening theme of Faure's Elegy in C minor Op 24 for cello and piano, followed by his Fantasy for flute and piano Op 79 with its rich diversity of patterns. Finally all three instruments combine once more to end the recital with Martinu's playful Trio in G minor Op 63.
