The performance starts with the Overture from 'Die Fledermaus' which establishes the credentials of this superb orchestra, and continues to feature the well known musical 'hits' of Johann Strauss Jr. who is well known as 'King of the Waltzes'. Amongst the plethora of tunes featured are 'Tales From The Vienna Woods' 'Vienna Blood' 'Thunder and Lightning Polka' and many more. The programme also features the popular music of Franz Lehar including 'Gold and Silver Waltz' plus a medley of his music especially arranged for the orchestra by the Conductor. The second half of the performance opens with the hauntingly beautiful 'Blue Danube Waltz' and continues with yet more of the wonderful and well known Viennese melodies, building to a climax with a resounding finale of 'The Radetsky March' - as befits any authentic Vienna Proms concert performance
