The Etta James Songbook

Work:: The Etta James Songbook (S0857637388)

In 1938 a fourteen-year-old African American girl gave birth to a baby daughter and named her Jamesette Hawkins, who became known to the world as Etta James and affectionately referred to as Peaches. Over the years Etta influenced a number of artists of all genres. In the UK, The Rolling Stones, and younger artistes, Amy Winehouse and Josh Stone. America holds Etta high in their top rankings of artists, winning 4 Grammy's for her music. Etta bridged the gap between Soul, Rhythm & Blues, and Jazz. Artists such as Beth Hart, Christina Aguilera, and Beyonce Knowles - her role as Etta in the film Cadillac Records have introduced a whole new generation to her music.
