Tchaikovsky Gala Concert

Tchaikovsky Gala Concert

Work:: Tchaikovsky Gala Concert (S151283293)

Production:: (T349719068)

This spectacular and explosive concert pays tribute to the genius of Tchaikovsky, with an unmissable programme ranging from his sunny Capriccio Italien to the popular tale of Shakespeare's star-crossed lovers in the Romeo And Juliet Fantasy Overture. Renowned pianist Peter Donohoe performs Tchaikovsky's immortal Piano Concerto No.1 with its familiar opening and fiendishly virtuosic passages. Initially disapproved of by his critics, his first piano concerto has become one of the great war-horses of Romantic concertos for keyboard. Music Director of the Royal Ballet, Covent Garden Barry Wordsworth conducts the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in this fabulous concert which culminates with the rousing and brassy grand finale of the 1812 Overture.
