Two great drummers on a great double-bill specially devised to show off their talents as composers as well as the rhythmic genius that has made them famous. Stewart Copeland was one of the driving forces behind Seventies rock legends The Police. Just as fellow Policeman Sting has embraced jazz and world-music in his prodigious solo career, Copeland has pursued a highly successful niche as composer of music for film and television. Bill Bruford started out as a jazzman before spending almost 20 years playing for bands including Yes and King Crimson. In the first half of tonight's show, Bruford returns to his jazz roots, with his band Earthworks, featuring Chick Corea's former sax player Tim Garland. Later Copeland joins forces with rhythm-meisters Ensemble Bash and the talented 14 piece chamber orchestra Matrix Ensemble for a concert which includes pieces from Coppola's masterpiece Rumblefish and the television series Equalizer.
