Glyndebourne Festival Opera makes its annual Proms visit with Laurent Pelly's semi-staged production of Humperdinck's glorious confection combining a popular Brothers Grimm fairy tale with Wagnerian music-drama. Robin Ticciati, former Music Director of Glyndebourne on Tour and now Principal Conductor of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, makes his Proms debut, leading a strong cast led by Alice Coote and Lydia Teuscher, while Austrian tenor Wolfgang Ablinger-Sperrhacke uproariously plays the wicked Witch in drag.
