Prom 29 - Jonathan Scott - Organ Recital

Prom 29

Work:: Prom 29 (S354)

Part of the BBC Proms.

Production:: Jonathan Scott - Organ Recital (T1145153760)

Jonathan Scott tames the mighty mechanical beast that is the Royal Albert Hall organ for this mid-morning recital that promises to show everything the 9,999-pipe instrument can do - bells and whistles included. This Prom journeys from supersized Bach and Edwin Lemare's spectacular arrangement of Wagner's Tannhäuser overture to the eccentricity of Charles Ives and the peaceful rapture of Scott's own arrangement of 'Cecilie' Chaminade's 'Autumn'. Another of the organist's own arrangements, that of Tchaikovsky's '1812' Overture, will almost literally pull out all the stops, and quite possibly bring the house down.
