Prom 28 - Leif Ove Andsnes - Mozart Momentum 1

Prom 28

Work:: Prom 28 (S353)

Part of the BBC Proms.

Production:: Leif Ove Andsnes - Mozart Momentum 1 (T2055010510)

Following on from their 'sensational' Beethoven Journey collaboration, the Mahler Chamber Orchestra and pianist Leif Ove Andsnes join forces again for an even more ambitious project. After four years of performances, recordings and festivals, their Mozart Momentum - a celebration of music from 1785 and 1786, two remarkable years in the composer's career - reaches its climax this season. In the first of three concerts (see also Prom 29 and Proms at Battersea, 8 August), the group brings together the stormy darkness of the composer's popular Piano Concerto No. 20 with the contrasting light and brilliance of the Concerto No. 22 - written alongside The Marriage of Figaro, whose bustling overture provides the evening's opener.
