SRS is proud to welcome back the Heath Quartet, fresh from their debut at New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. Several years ago this quartet gave a concert for SRS when they were young musicians setting out on their career. Now firmly established amongst the elite they return to accompany Royal Opera House baritone Nigel Cliffe to commemorate WWI. Nigel will be singing songs based on family letters sent from the Front by his great-uncle Private Joe Wood. The composer, Roxanna Pufnik, was featured in the BBC Prom on July 20th when another of her compositions received its European premiere. The Quartet will also be playing what has been described as 'perhaps the most demanding and the greatest of all the string quartets written to this day' - Beethoven's monumental Op. 131, the String Quartet No 14 in C sharp minor as featured in the film 'A Late Quartet'.
