On Wednesday 15 October 2014, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra return to the Ipswich Regent Theatre with an extraordinary Opera Gala concert. Join the Orchestra for what promises to be a magical night full of opera classics, featuring a whole host of memorable overtures, arias and duets from all your favourite operas. Highlights include songs from The Barber of Seville, Carmen, The Marriage of Figaro, Gianni Schicchi, The Pearl Fishers, Dido and Aeneas, The Magic Flute, Tosca, and popular songs from Lord Andrew Lloyd Webber's mesmerising and unforgettable Phantom of the Opera. The Orchestra will also perform some of the best-loved instrumental interludes, including the Overtures to The Italian Girl in Algiers and The Barber of Seville, the Prelude to Act III from Lohengrin and the Prelude and Aragonaise from Carmen. Joining the Orchestra for this magnificent night is Music Director of Camerata Wales, and Founder and Artistic Director of the Cardiff Welsh Proms, Owain Arwel Hughes: soloists include award-winning and internationally acclaimed baritone, Richard Morrison, and two local stars: Suffolk's most prestigious soprano, Laura Wright, and the very talented tenor from Essex, James Edwards.
