NI Opera has co-commissioned five brand new operas by contemporary Northern Irish composers - as part of the London 2012 Festival celebrations. Each piece is between 10 to 20 minutes long with accompaniment from the Ulster Orchestra and NI Opera's young singers. A series of mini operas that create one spine-tingling extravaganza. NI Opera Shorts creates unique partnerships between a number of leading writers and well-known composers. The evening will include Our Day* composed by Conor Mitchell, written by international playwright Mark Ravenhill; a piece composed by Brian Irvine, written by playwright Owen McCafferty; a partnership between award-winning playwright Frank McGuinness and Christopher Norby - plus two new operas composed by Deirdre McKay and Ed Bennett.
