Music for Christmas

Music for Christmas

Work:: Music for Christmas (S505219011)

Production:: (T1362316737)

Handel's Messiah needs no introduction. In this concert we will be singing the Christmas excerpts from Part One (to which we are adding the Hallelujah Chorus). We will also be singing two attractive settings of Christmas carols by 20th Century English composers. Christmas Cantata is the best-known work by Geoffrey Bush, and combines joyful carols with more thoughtful ones. Fantasia on Christmas Carols is by the Gloucestershire-born Ralph Vaughan Williams. It is a skilful blending of four familiar carols, and reflects the composer's love of folksongs and of Christmas. It is by turn mystical, joyous and nostalgic.
Company Regency Sinfonia
