Mitsuko Uchida - and Friends

Work:: Mitsuko Uchida (S1178416461)

Among the greatest living pianists.
Performer Mitsuko Uchida

Production:: and Friends (T314449774)

One of the world’s most compelling musicians, Mitsuko Uchida is a devotee of the Aldeburgh experience. Finding inspiration in its unique combination of peace and quiet intensity she chooses to make many of her recordings here. It was therefore an obvious choice for her first Aldeburgh Residency preparing Schoenberg’s masterpiece of expressionist cabaret Pierrot Lunaire - a work for which Schoenberg himself demanded 40 rehearsals! For this project she is joined by an extraordinary line-up of international soloists and the German actress and film star, Barbara Sukowa for a performance which promises to meld the cool glamour of a Fassbinder film with Uchida’s own matchless musical pedigree. She completes the programme with two of her favourite chamber works from the Vienna of a century earlier. An unrivalled opportunity to witness great musicians in the white heat of the creative process.
Performer Mitsuko Uchida (piano)
Performer Barbara Sukowa (narrator)
Performer Mark Steinberg (violin)
Performer Clemens Hagen (cello)
Performer Marina Piccinini (flute)
Performer Anthony McGill (clarinet)
