A saxophonist and composer, his work crosses the boundaries of the jazz, new music and folk worlds. One of the most prominent members of the Loose Tubes generation Mark generation Mark has co-led Perfect Houseplants since 1992. The music he wrote during his spell as artist in residence with the NDR Big Band in Germany, one of Europe’s finest jazz orchestras, will be at the heart of this concert. Hot House Big Band (on stage 9.30pm) - until recently known as the East Midlands Youth Jazz Orchestra, is currently among the UKs finest big bands. In the last twelve months they’ve played The London Jazz Festival, represented the UK at the last IAJE conference in Toronto, featured in "Derby Jazz Week The Movie" and worked with Tony Kofi, Alex Wilson, Alan Barnes and now Mark Lockheart.Performer Mark Lockheart (saxes).
