Young trumpeter and band leader Phelps knows his history. One time co-band leader of hell-raising jazz radicals Empirical, his debut solo album ?Jay Walkin' displays a thorough knowledge and love of the golden age of big band jazz.. Award winning jazz vocalist Clare Teal will join his all star 17-piece band to present some of the great jazz classics from legendary leaders Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Jimmy Lunceford, Dizzy Gillespie and Lionel Hampton in an extravagant night of swing, blues and be-bop.

Jay Phelps has put together an all-star line up to re-arrange and perform over four-decade's worth of the wonderful music of jazz legend, Miles Davis. Phelps has always cited Davis as one of his greatest inspirations and aims to breathe new life into his music, selecting lesser-known tunes for the band to re-imagine. Joining Phelps will be ex-Blakey American Tenor saxophone star, Jean Toussaint, and British star Nathaniel Facey on Alto. The rhythm section consists of two of the busiest men in the business, Tim Thornton (bass) and Shane Forbes (drums) joined by rising newcomer Ashley Henry (piano).
