Ilka Joy and Treasure archiveThe performance comprises five original pieces of music from Christine's catalogue, including the risqué 'Baby Blues' and 'Cellar Door', 'Furious Eyes', 'The Walls of You' and 'You've Got the Devil in You'. Other songs include adaptations of the notable Scottish writer, Robert Burns' poems - 'Ae Fond Kiss' from which the title of the performance is derived and 'My Love is Like a Red Rose' - traditional folk songs from across Scotland and a diverse range of unique covers from K.T. Tunstall's 'Black Horse & The Cherry Tree', Heyward & Gershwin's 'Summertime' to, Paolo Nutini's 'Pencil Full of Lead'. As well as exposing the raw emotion of the lyrics, Christine and John successfully blend traditional Scottish acoustic instruments to intensify the listeners' experience.
