Guy Barker Jazz Orchestra - The Amadeus Project

Work:: Guy Barker Jazz Orchestra (S173412023)

Production:: The Amadeus Project (T2098790444)

Fresh from a showcase week at Ronnie Scott’s, Guy Barker brings The Amadeus Project to The Anvil you with his jazz orchestra that features the finest line-up of musicians yet, including Rosario Giuliani, Byron Wallen and Per "Texas" Johansson. With a script by thriller writer Robert Ryan, and narrated by actor Michael Brandon, the timeless tale of good and evil in The Magic Flute unfolds in a forties film noir setting. The Amadeus Suite, which follows, presents a series of musical portraits of some of the characters. It may sounds unusual, but it works brilliantly, and contains some of Barker’s very best music to date. Voted Best Album in the 2008 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and with three nominations in this year’s BBC Jazz Awards, this is your only chance in the south to hear it played live.
