Demis Roussos

Demis Roussos

Work:: Demis Roussos (S1048867666)

Demis Roussos' first international success came through his meeting Lucas and Vangelis. Vangelis became the main composer of the band and the keyboard player, whilst Demis was the singer and bassist - forming the group Aphrodite's Child. Success was achieved in France before the neighbouring markets in Europe became interested in the Greek band. Demis was offered the chance by his record company to become a solo artist and his first single 'We Shall Dance' and album 'On the Greek Side of My Mind' jumped to the top of the European hit-parades. In the 1970s, Demis Roussos had established himself firmly in the musical world with further hits 'Forever' and 'Velvet Mornings' and gained a place in the Guinness Book of Records for outstanding record sales.
