Favelization - T01921450924

In 2006 and 2007, the Brazilian cultural group from the favela of Vigário Geral, AfroReggae, erupted onto the Barbican Theatre’s stage with their sell-out performances of From the Favela to the World. Now bite08 has commissioned a new show from this phenomenal group. Favelization is another fantastically exuberant display of drumming, rap and dance featuring hip-hop and reggae rhythms from the heart of the favela fused with deep funk and new and traditional rhythms from the South American continent. The band are accompanied onstage by the high energy percussion group AfroLata, a subsidiary of AfroReggae, made up of young men in their late teens whose drums are constructed from recycled materials.
