T561118287When Ray Gravel passed away at the age of 56 last year, Wales had lost one of its greatest sons, and a leading light in Rugby. The former Llanelli, Wales and Lions hero was dubbed a legend by fans spanning the globe for his contribution to the game. Winning 23 caps for his country between ’75 and ’82, he was a key member of the Grand Slam and Triple Crown winning Welsh teams. Upon retiring from the physical side of the sport, he forged a fruitful career as an actor and broadcaster and was a regular on both BBC Radio Wales and BBC Radio Cymru plus S4C’s commentary team. The evening will feature leading lights in the world of Welsh entertainment, including Catrin Jones, Gwenda & Gaynor, folk group Mynediad am Ddim, Welsh language poet Fflur Dafydd, popular Welsh male voice choir Côr Meibion Llanelli, Cardiff-based soprano Iona Jones and Welsh language folk singer-songwriter Dafydd Iwan. | |
