In 1768 Philip Astley paced out a circle on the banks of the Thames in which to perform tricks on horseback, marking the birth of modern circus. The standard circus ring remains the same size to this day. In this brand new show created to mark the 250th year, Gossamer Thread Circus invite you on a journey traversing the evolutions of circus from that moment up to the present day, featuring world-class international artists.
