Chris Ingham Quartet - The Jazz of Dubley Moore

Work:: Chris Ingham Quartet (S0662809446)

Production:: The Jazz of Dubley Moore (T850869011)

The beloved comic actor, Dudley Moore, was not only one of the UK's most dazzling and swinging jazz pianists but also a composer of wit and depth. A true accompanist and big band pianist, Moore rose to prominence in appearances and recordings with the Johnny Dankworth Orchestra, he then led an outstanding trio on stage, in clubs and concert halls and latterly on TV. For all the acclaim he received as a comic actor, the most interesting thing about Moore's reputation is how undervalued he is as a jazzman and composer. Chris Ingham Quartet's tribute to Moore frames the context of their latest, and very welcome project, honouring the music of a prematurely lost and sadly missed jazz hero. The inimitable Moore was a purveyor of quirky, imaginative jazz originals and the witty music for Bedazzled, 30 Is A Dangerous Age and Cynthia, nuanced movie scores far superior to the movies themselves.
