Details

Emma Stibbon s woodcuts are divided between landscapes that are remote, urban and industrial, connected only by the scale and visual impact of the place. Her wild landscapes invite the eye into a space of infinite scale, often provoking the viewer to dwell on the drama therein. . After making charcoal drawings on site that drawn image is manipulated and reworked. The images are cut from large sheets of birch plywood and printed in small editions on Japanese paper. The resulting prints are marked by a magisterial scale and a high visual drama.
