Young Frankenstein

What a great day of theatre, a matinee and an evening show of two of my top films. I remember Young Frankenstein coming out in 1974, I was coming home from London and bought the book at the station ... by the time I got home I bought a paper, found out where the film was on and headed straight back to London to see it .. I still can't sing "Putting on the Ritz" any other way.

No complaints, this was funny, full-on, suitably smutty and just downright entertaning! The quite old fashioned staging - lots of quick change painted backdrops, works well for the genre allowing us to move quickly, keeping the pace too fast for you to stop and think how daft teh whole set-up is! I'd have loved some real spark generators but I guess they are very risky - huh, health and safety gone mad! 

We saw the show with Cory English playing Igor in place of Ross Noble ... whilst I would love to have seen Ross I can honestly say that Cory was perfect in the role originally made famous by the wonderful Marty Feldman. The horses are fabulous, Summer Strallen is absolutely brilliant as Inga and I just loved everything Lesley Joseph did - she really owned the part - I hope she has as much fun as she gave us.

No real suprises in this show - just excellent entertainment well worth the price of a ticket!
