This is a new tale based on the character and moving the stories to more modern times. We meet Sindebad shipwrecked (again!) and rescude by the crew of a little fishing boat ... as he tells them his story they are drawn into more danger until his quest, the search for love, is finally completed. Along the way there are more wrecks, monsters, death, plague and people being eaten! True to the spirit of the original and to the more macabre humour of traditional fairy stories. Disney this is not!
Sinbad's tale is told in episodes enacted by the cast. Music, acting and story are all excellent but, for me at least, the production went a little flat a couple of times and I saw some fidgety bottoms amongst the little ones - hopefully this was not a conscious decision and it will settle down as the run progresses, the cast are certainly gibing it their all.
This is one of the first productions under the new name of "Tobacco Factory Theatres" - the significance is the 's' at the end which reflects the growing nature of the Tobacco Factorys's offerings (apostrophe melt down!).
