Dom Rowe's My Previous Self is an intereting short play looking at the aftereffects of total memory loss in an era of social media and commercialism. Nick (not his real name!) has woken up with no idea who he is, and little hope of finding out, until a massive corporation steps in to take over the process in exchange for his "story". In the end, which is his true self, the lost one he can't remember or the new one he's creating on a day by day basis. Hmm, leaves you thinking and there's a nice little twist at the end.
This is a tiny, but comfortable, theatre (The Wardrobe, Bristol) and I felt, at times, that the direction was a bit big ... when the audience is this close you can afford yourself more subtlety and stillness - the movement and anger were sometimes a bit overpowering. but at around an hour for £5 this was great value theatre - I love this short format mid-week, makes for an early night ;-)
