Unfortunately I have not read Michael Campbell's original book so I'm not sure how close Glenn Chandler's adaptation is to the original feel of the work but I found it curiously dated. I was at an all boys boarding school in 1967 when this was set - fagging had recently been abolished and it was a few years till we were to share any event with a girls school, but what is represented here was not my reality. Gay (and curious) boys, and masters, there most certainly were but camp was not cool in school. Having said that, the show is entertaining, I'm just not sure it has a modern relevance, it is a bit like flicking back through Radio 4X's comedy archive to cringe at mid-60's innuendo.
p.s. just a note, sound effects could do with fading in and out, they're a bit harsh ;-)
