Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Smirnoff Underbelly
As you wait to fill in your name-tag to enter the space, you wonder what is happening with this exciting piece of theatre. Simon Pittman directs a strong cast and the audience in this consideration of child illness amidst a bleak urban landscape. We are drawn in by several tricks so that we share the loss at the centre of the show. The cast deal with this excellently well, chatting to the audience, arguing over who will play what, chiding the author (Phil King) and just as we feel we are relaxing with friends, slap us with hard truths. A show that will have you thinking long after you leave the theatre.
