A look at the life of Helene Mayer, the only Jewish member of the German Olympic squad of 1936. This very infomative and fascinating play looks at the struggles Mayer had between her desire to be the best fencer in the world and the political upheaval and anti-semitism of the time. In the end she chooses fencing over a political statement but seems to immediately regret the decision. Great pace and skillfully understated acting stop this from becomming a dry history and really draws you in.
