Dolly Parton's Smoky Mountain Christmas Carol

Well, I've sen a lot of versions of Dickens' classic but never one quite like this. Original songs from Dolly support a Scrooge story set in a mountain mining community. All your favourite characters and scenes are there, tweaked to fit the new story framework and yes, it works. The songs are lovely though "three candles" has rather too many outings, and the staging in clever and engaging.  Personally, I found the first act a bit slow but it picked up well after the interval and still managed to move me. A lovely pre-Christmas treat.
