Bottom – Summerhall

Willy asks: are you a top or a bottom? Bottom is about bums, Beyoncé and burnt fishfingers. The first 15 minutes flows nicely with a flash of flesh to set the tone. It does become repetitive as Beyonce and Lucy (on tech) help him out repeatedly. He is delightfully self-deprecating and is not shy of calling a spade a bloody shovel but his open-hearted storytelling can meander somewhat aimlessly. Did he lose the script at times? Possibly. Only he and Lucy will know.

He has a great soundtrack but his frenetic extended dance towards the end seemed simplyto be filler. There are some very funny tales which would appeal to people on any point of the sexual spectrum. He does get to a serious point: in this age where sex and appearance seem to be paramount. What about the chance to get to know someone first, beforethe even consider the question “Top or...”?
