What a fabulous night out, I'm not sure I've ever heard the TRP audience give such a loud, appreciative, reaction as they did at the end of this great show!
Using the much loved Bat Out of Hell music from Jim Steinman and Meatloaf, this musical weaves a futuristic Peter Pan story, though the plot is really secondary to the music ... incredible rock numbers delivered with passion by some brilliant singers. Glenn Adamson's delivery as Strat is amazing, exhausting even to just watch and with a good relationship with Martha Kirby's Raven. Rob Fowler (Falco) and Sharon Sexton (Sloane) play their parts to perfection, genuinely funny.
The ensemble were amazing, such high energy dance routines might not be out of place in a gym but were delivered throughout the over 2 hour show with gusto and a precision that many a corps de ballet fails to achieve ... I found myself transfixed by them, how do they learn that and deliver it with such gusto ... absolutely no mid-tour blues here!
The set is slightly strange but you get used to it with its use of live projection to show the enclosed house space, which somteimes has to be bled out to the main stage so that a scene doesn't get lost. Lighting is amazing and a big thank you to the sound crew, not all touring shows get it right but the balance here was near perfect and you could hear every word sung ... hoorah!
Just such a brilliant night out ...
