Minack production seen at the Lost Gardens of Heligan

Woopee, my first theatre in a very long time, outdoors, in the beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan and under a (mostly) clear sky. Really quite an emotional experience.

This two hander starts in the time of the 2001 foot & mouth outbreak across the UK. A terrible time when this dreadful disease seemed almsot unstoppable, cattle were being destroyed and burned, farmers were losing everything they'd workd for and movement was restricted across much of the (non-urban) land. Sound a little familiar in these pandemic times?

But this is not a story of disease outbreaks, more it is a story of how two very different men can form and maintain a friendship that survives some of teh strongest tests that life can throw at them. Poignant and funny, the story moves over a few years as the world moves into, out of and on until the pandemic and the havoc it wrought is just a memory.

Well acted and breautifully paced this is a lovely piece of drama and a very pleasant experience indeed. Only on for a few days and remember to take your own chairs! A thoroughly welcome and worthy return to theatre.
