The Huntingdonshire Philharmonic aims to encourage and inspire a love of music in the local community by giving regular concerts in the Huntingdonshire area. It offers a wide-ranging repertoire, including works by contemporary composers, and seeks to maintain the highest possible standards of performance and presentation. Its policy is to engage soloists of high calibre, especially younger artists. This year's National Orchestra Week (9-17 March 2002) will see professional and amateur orchestras across the country join forces to offer the widest range of concerts, family days and special events in the event's five-year history. For the first time, the Association of British Orchestras is joined by Making Music, the National Federation of Music Societies, in a partnership that will enable all orchestral musicians to take part. This unique celebration of orchestral life in the UK encourages people of all ages to take part in activities organised by their local orchestras and music groups.
