Part of the BBC Proms. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra visits the Proms for two concerts with its current Music Director. Tonight they are joined by a charismatic Proms favourite who made her debut here in 2001, playing the same concerto. Before revisiting Beethoven's introspective insights, there is the Proms premiere of a gorgeously flamboyant orchestral extravaganza from one of those German composers whose flourishing careers were knocked off course by the advent of the Third Reich.
