The BBC Concert Orchestra is one of the country s most versatile ensembles. For more than half a century it has been the house orchestra for BBC Radio 2 s Friday Night is Music Night and gives regular broadcasts on BBC Radio 3. Its work can be heard on soundtracks to many BBC TV programmes including Blue Planet, Frozen Planet and Human Planet.

From the wilds of Arabia to the French Revolution, BBC Concert Orchestra and BBC Singers bring together BAFTA, Academy Award and Golden Globe-winning films. This showcase has everything you're looking for in a night at the movies; cult classics, Spaghetti Westerns, Adventure, Comedy, Sci-fi, Drama, Romance. It's all here. On the bill: blockbuster Les Mis?rables with music by Claude-Michel Sch?nberg, French drama Les Choristes, and Maurice Jarre's highly acclaimed soundtrack to Lawrence of Arabia. Chosen for their atmospheric nature, Ligeti's Lux aeterna accompanied 2001: A Space Odyssey's mesmerising imagery and Messiaen's haunting choral motet O Sacrum Convivium featured in Stigmata. Plus a handpicked selection from celebrated Italian film composer Ennio Morricone, including Once Upon a Time in the West and The Mission.
