Details
Back in the fifties and sixties, Revue was an essential part of London's varied theatre scene offering a fun filled evening. A simple format of sketches, songs and skits, the Shakespeare Revue is inspired by the Bard and put over with vigour, delight and panache by the accomplished performers. A rich vein of comic writing and song, much of it seems to be also a potted history of British entertainment styles. First presented by the Royal Shakespeare Company at the Barbican Centre and subsequently in the West End, this joyous words and music celebration gathers together some of the finest comic material inspired by the Bard. The evening continues with comic contributions from the cream of writing and performing talent such as Alan Bennett, Maureen Lipman, Ned Sherrin and Victoria Wood to name just a few.
