The Actors Centre is excited to announce the first season of their John Thaw Initiative, which includes workshops of plays, devised theatre, musicals, one-man shows, cabaret shows, stand-up, verbatim theatre and improvisation by members of the Actors Centre. This initiative was set up to offer development opportunities to actors daring to create their own work. The public are invited to actively engage in these workshops, with the intention to further explain the process behind the creation of new pieces, and allow participants to help shape the future of the work. Joel Fisher, Creative Producer of the Actors Centre comments: 'We believe this first season in the John Thaw epitomises exactly what it is to be an actor in London today. The breadth of ideas and innovation is a testament to just how talented and versatile our members are. It is important for audiences to understand that this initiative is a safe space, where people can feel comfortable to try something daring and risky that could fly or fall on its face. We want them to join us on this early step of the development ladder and watch these actors climb. I am confident that many of these pieces will expand into full productions and, we hope to be privileged enough to house a number of them in the Tristan Bates Theatre in the future.'
