Alice is working the nightshift at The Happy Egg, a 24-hour truck stop. On yet another ?sabbatical' from teaching, Alice prepares for a long night with only truckers and insomniacs for company. But it's snowing hard and the roads are deserted. Close by, three members of the Phillips family - violent bully Ed, his reclusive wife Kate and their teenage son James - have a devastating argument. And each one has a dangerous ulterior motive for visiting The Happy Egg to dissect their side of the story with its only waitress working the nightshift...
